“The Loss of Hope”
This
monologue is from Hidûd ’Odhs to Jocg Micoc in the
beginning of Episode VIII.
The
universe is falling. With the loss of all possible
stability between the galaxies, Darkness continues to
spread its horrific scheme to all realms of life. With
our greatest allies either dead or just barely able to
remain hidden, planet after planet; galaxy after galaxy
has forfeited to the will of the Dark Ways. What power
now has the might and fervor to stand against such a
force?
Where
did we go wrong? A faction believed to be wiped out when
its leader was imprisoned has now become the very
oppression we have worked so hard to evade. After such
precaution; after such zeal for the good and prosperity
for all; how could we have been so blind? The signs were
there. The prophecies of the Old Universal Scriptures
remain to be true. Yet we continued to disregard the
concern of selfishness and corruption as mere trifles.
Those who wished to keep themselves out of controversial
and complicated affairs are reaping for their ignorance.
The political correct now stand corrected: allowing
freedom for all has now left freedom for none.
With the
Eradication of Opposition, most leaders of all
institutions; political, educational, scientific,
radical, religious, and compassionate have been removed
and, in most cases, exterminated. The Darkness space
fleet is continuing to be built up in an unprecedented
and colossal manner. More and more young people are
being programmed and fooled into pledging themselves
whole-heartedly to the Dark One’s cause. Lives are
continuously being ruined and the innocent suffer with
the guilty. Who do we have to look to for guidance?
The Dark
One will use his pawns to continue his bidding. Pendaló
may have been defeated, but the planets of Massovi,
Sapóst, Anaree, and many others will continue to fight
under the Darkness banner out of fear of chastisement.
The Dark One’s hold on the Chosen One, now fully aware
of her task, continues to strengthen. With each passing
day her will is beaten and robbed of all hope of
success. As the time grows near, she begins to realize
that her task fulfilled will lead to her own ruin yet
her task discontented will lead to the ruin of all.
Where is
the hope we once had? What can we do? What can we look
to for a hint of chance? Can we find a way? We must find
a way! For if not, Satantine will have supremacy over
both the living and the dead. He will be ruler of all.
