Howard K. Jackson comes from a simple
childhood on the planet Modius. He is originally from
the city of Steel and enjoyed taking hikes in the
Steelian Mountains. In his secondary education in
Uptania is where he met his “sweetheart”, Cassandra
Randstein. Unfortunately, Randstein’s career took her to
Agrista where she worked on her life-long project, the
Biosphere. Jackson, whose grades were just above
passing, signed up for the Modiun UMDA. He quickly rose
through the ranks and was appointed as assistance
commander-in-chief by his thirtieth birthday. Just five
short years later, he was named commander-in-chief of
UMDA just before Queen Ursila passed away.
Howard’s first “trauma” as commander-in-chief was when
the Modiun Ocean turned red with deadly red algae. He
and his newly appointed assistant commander-in-chief,
Christopher Naomi, had to discover the mystery of the
algae, discover the secret behind Octgoña’s plot for
Kenex’s energy crystal, and stop the Modiun takeover.
Because of Jackson’s great responses and procedures
during his first crisis, Overseer Arofax of the
Universal Council asked of his service to become the
first commander-in-chief of Universal UMDA—a dream of
Howard’s for a long time.
During his fourth year as commander-in-chief of
Universal UMDA, Howard had his chance to meet up with
his love, Randstein. He, along with Tim Overrgran and
Jean Geggo, went to Agrista to investigate the legality
of the Biosphere. But when the Biosphere fell under
control of Darkness, Jackson and his UMDA team worked to
save the Agristan capital from the ferocious, bewitched
plants. Unfortunately, Randstein sacrificed herself in
order to stop the plants for good. Howard Jackson’s love
was gone forever.
When Modius was taken over by the Robotic Confederation,
Jackson was torn between overstepping his boundaries and
helping the Modiun people and doing his duties as UMDA
commander. He proposed to the Universal Council that the
Queen Kida Kuuba provide proof that the reason why the
Confederation took control of her planet was to find an
energy crystal. Then the Council should stand behind
her. The Council agreed, much to the Queen’s
disapproval. After several days of no work from Howard’s
team searching for an energy crystal, Kuuba announced
the vote of no justice in the Council, formally making
Overseer Hamor temporary executive officer of the
Universal Government and Jackson as second in command of
the Universal Council. Kida then went to Modius with
Hamor to attempt to negotiate with the Emperor of the
Confederation. When the agents searching for the energy
crystal returned and learned that Hamor was, in fact, an
agent of Darkness, Jackson quickly dispatched UMDA
agents to save Kida just before Hamor was about to kill
her. After Kida was saved by Howard and his UMDA agents,
he took a bold move and attacked the Robotic
Confederation. Eventually, the Confederation was
defeated and Queen Kida Kuuba once again sat upon the
throne of Modius.
Howard Jackson still works for UMDA even though he is
very qualified to retire. He claims that he loves the
job and will continue to serve until he is mentally or
physically unable.
