The dark coordinator of the many
ill-fated happenings throughout the universe, the
Magician, or Tredar, remains behind the scenes with many
of his plans. He is constantly executing the plans of
his master, the Dark One. His specialty is making
“deals” with third-party leaders who, in some way, are
corrupt and are searching for a way to better
themselves. The lord of evil; of hate; of villainy; of
treachery; of horror; and of transgression, Tredar
exploits this egotistical weakness and the employees
suddenly find themselves at the mercy of their Employer.
Tredar first ensnared the planet of
Pendaló. Twenty years later, the enslaved planet
produced hundreds of Darkness space transport and
destroyer ships—the first installment of many more to
come.
Tredar next employed the service of
the Modiun Ocean Sea-witch, Octgoña, to track down and
retrieve the lost energy crystal of the super-crook,
Kenex. Once she retrieved the crystal, Tredar sent his
partner, Miry, to collect his prize. In exchange for her
work, Tredar gave to Octgoña mutant soldiers for her
attack on Queen Kida Kuuba.
Tredar continued to make deals with
other organizations; most notably the Robotic
Confederation. Agreeing with the Emperor of the
Congressional Assembly, Tredar began working on the
Agristan Biosphere. The Emperor later terminated the
deal when he learned of the plants behaving deadly.
Tredar destroyed the Emperor and continued his plans for
the Biosphere; dispatching Miry to take over the
Agristan University.
He was later contacted by the newly
elected Emperor of the Robotic Congressional Assembly,
Visus. Tredar knew of Visus’s greed and lust for power
and played on his fear and will to dominate. He secretly
plotted with Visus. They agreed that Darkness would pay
off all Robotic Confederation debt in exchange for the
robots performing three tasks decided by the Darkness
Magician. The Emperor agreed. Visus came through for
Tredar and captured Overseer Arofax of the Universal
Council. Tredar then killed the Overseer.
According to their plan, Visus
ordered a blockade around the planet of Modius. Tredar
cautioned Visus that the Congressional Assembly would
not like the idea. When the Assembly expressed its
displeasure for Visus’s military actions, the robotic
fiend killed the other members of the Congressional
Assembly and crowned himself Emperor of the Robotic
Confederation—all according to Tredar’s plan. Tredar
then ordered the deaths of the two Committee
representatives who had come to negotiate with the
Confederation and ordered the immediate invasion of the
Modiun planet. Visus complied. Throughout the invasion
and occupation of Modius, Tredar communicated with the
Emperor via an observation screen that kept his
environment in shadow. He later learned that the Emperor
Visus had kept from him the information of the escaped
Queen Kuuba and ordered him to continue his search for
the rumored energy crystal hidden somewhere on the
planet. Tredar sent Miry to follow the Queen.
Mysteriously, Tredar was aware of the Queen’s return to
Modius and her aggressive motives to take back her
thrown. The Darkness Magician commanded Visus to fight
to the bitter end and defend the Modiun Palace from
invaders. During their infiltration of the Palace, Kida,
Felfo, Glorita, and the freed Nora met up with Tredar
and Miry who had come to retrieve the found energy
crystal. The Three Good Sorcerers engaged Tredar and
Miry in a magical’s duel. Miry and Tredar defeated the
three and disappeared from the palace with the energy
crystal. Because Visus had eventually lost the battle
and Modius was now back in the hands of its citizens,
Tredar appeared in Emperor Visus’s prison cell. In order
to keep Visus from talking before the Committee of
Magicians and spoiling his cover, Tredar destroyed him.
It isn’t until twenty years later
that the Magician returns as a public figure in the
universal scene. Charged by his master to begin
universal domination, Tredar led the attack and takeover
of the planet Earth. He, along with Miry, searched for
the five energy crystals brought to earth by teenagers
years ago. He also instituted a variety of concentration
camps and oversaw their beginning operations. Traveling
to Massovi, Tredar launched a daring assault on the
Universal Committee’s Debate Chamber and captured all
but the twenty Committee Officials. He sent the captured
Committee members to Pendaló where he had instructed the
Darkness Administrator, Zupto, to drain the magic from
them. Tredar also oversaw the destruction of Massovi’s
surface and construction of the Darkness headquarters.
The Magician’s next task was to hurry
along the completion of main components of The Weapon
being built on Massovi in time for the Dark One’s
arrival. He presided over the imprisonment of Jude
Forque and set a trap for Nasil and the UMDA agents
planning to rescue her. Tredar confronted Nasil in the
corridors of the Massovi headquarters. Just as Jude had
entered the area where the two magicians were dueling,
Tredar took a cheap shot and gave a mortal blow to Nasil.
Tredar was temporarily defeated by Forque’s fit of rage.
The Magician must then face his master, Satantine, and
explain himself and his failure to hold Forque and
complete the necessary Weapon parts—a gravelling no one
is permitted to see. Tredar then allows Zupto of Pendaló
to break from Darkness, allowing Pendaló to act as a
diversion while Darkness’s forces grew. His task was to
hunt down the final two energy crystals as well as
dispose of Jude Forque. After countless attacks on
Jude’s home life and family, he loses focus on Jude as
he comes closer to finding the ninth energy crystal.
While his spies slowly track down the crystal’s
location, Tredar, disguised for the final time as Hamor,
is taken before the Universal Committee Officials for a
trial. It is there that the lord treachery reveals
himself and slaughters all the remaining members of the
Universal Committee. He then contacts the Darkness
infiltrators throughout the universe and enacts the
Eradication of Opposition—a codename for Darkness
planetary and galactic spies to come out of hiding and
destroy any form of leadership there may be in their
territory. Learning of Queen Kida Messedu of Modius’s
contacts with the keepers of the ninth energy crystal,
Tredar threatens and eventually destroys the planet of
Modius in pursuit of the crystal. He is later confronted
by Jason Messedu who possessed the crystal at the time.
Jude Forque arrived on Massovi just as Jason was killed
by Tredar. After a short duel, Jude loses to Tredar, who
takes the ninth energy crystal and sends Jude down a
garbage shoot. Tredar then commissions the first batch
of zold warriors for battle on Massovi.
During a meeting of the Darkness High
Command, Tredar contacts General Rakiar and commands him
to begin a military campaign against Magria and Everoon.
Tredar is instructed by the Dark One to bring the Chosen
One to Galgathôn while driving UMDA out of hiding.
Tredar tracks down Jude Forque on Mordon because of the
Dark Ways’ influence over Tarakiki’s Eye. He captures
her and takes her to Galgathôn where he attempts to
break her spirit and submit to the Dark One’s will. In
addition to capturing the Chosen One, the Magician
prepares Darkness for the Cosmic Battle against the free
people of the universe. He leads the Darkness forces on
Tawoo into battle but is succeeded by General Rakiar
after Tredar is summoned to take Jude to the belly of
Galgathôn, Zlordin. As the Cosmic Battle rages on, Jude
and Tredar fight an epic magician’s duel in the Zlordin
before Satantine for the tenth energy crystal. Although
Tredar is temporarily defeated in the duel, Jude later
learns that Tredar cannot die because he is not truly
alive and is actually a demonic being in the form of a
magician.
Tredar appears to be only sixteen
years of age. He has curly hair and glowing red eyes. In
the beginning episodes, his hair is bright blonde
followed by blue, brown, and finally blood-red
hair—symbolizing the mood of the episodes and the bazaar
methodology the evil Magician follows. He wears a
completely black robe and the Bindolanz around his neck.
Known for his vicious temper, Tredar dehydrates any
Darkness agent who fails him but takes pleasure in the
slow deaths of his enemies.
