Velégnor of Nemuson

Appears in Episodes:

I  II  III  IV  V  VI  VII  VIII

Velégnor is, perhaps, the oldest living being in the universe. He was the youngest warlock to be summoned to the Wizard’s Convention. He was often mocked and sneered at by the elder magicals but the Great Wizards had great faith in him. At the Convention, he befriended Nasil of Mordon and Modius and later Hidûd ’Odhs and Jocğ Micoc. He also became a great rival of Crazbudar; claiming that he was selfish and looking to better his position in the universe. During this time, Velégnor learned of his great special ability of foresight (to be able to see glimpses into the future) and physic investigation (to be able to have glimpses into people’s minds).

When Velégnor, Nasil, Jocğ, and Hidûd were able to expose Crazbudar for his evil ways, the War of the Crystals ensued. The four of them became low-ranking commanders in the Universal Alliance’s army; however, as more and more members of the Convention died by Crazbudar’s forces, Velégnor rose to become the highest-ranking commander. Velégnor learned of Crazbudar’s plans to crush the Universal Alliance and planned a counterattack. But it was Nasil, not Velégnor, who eventually defeated the horrible Crazbudar and sent him to the Great Abyss. Though he would never admit it, Velégnor would remain envious and green-eyed toward Nasil.

When the Universal Government was being formed, Nasil offered his friend the seat as High-Elder of the Universal Committee. Velégnor refused, claiming that he was through with political life. He retired to his castle of Mazä-Jeal on the planet Nemuson.

Nearly two thousand years after the defeat of Crazbudar, Nasil arrived on Nemuson to speak with his old friend, Velégnor. He explained to Velégnor that the Superior Spirit had awoken him with plans for the return of Satantine. Surprised and indignant over the Superior Spirit’s choice of Nasil over himself, Velégnor became vulnerable to the influence of the Dark Ways. He assured Nasil that he would use his gifts of physic investigation and foresight to help prepare and possibly stop the Dark One’s return. Over the course of two hundred years, the influence Velégnor felt was from the Superior Spirit manipulated and poisoned his mind.

By the time Nasil returned after two hundred years, Velégnor, as well as the entire facility of Mazä-Jeal, Velégnor had completely changed for the worse. Velégnor claimed that the Superior Spirit had abandoned the universe and that the Dark One would take over. He became so incredibly hostile to his once-friend that he attacked Nasil. A brawl began between Nasil and Velégnor. But just as he came at Nasil, Velégnor tripped on the fallen crest of the Superior Spirit on the floor. He slid across the room and out the window. He fell to his death.

The prophesies of Velégnor continued to haunt Nasil as he witnesses the general but definite takeover of Satantine. Because of Velégnor, Nasil revealed the location of an energy crystal to Jude Forque and Ronvoy Messedu. That crystal is now in the hands of the Dark One.

Velégnor typically wears a long, brown, flowing robe over his dark skin. He has a snout like a dog’s but the ears of a cow with sandpaper hands. Around his neck, Velégnor wears medals and golden necklaces.
